Kimono Sculptures

During the lockdown of 2020 my husband and I ended up sharing my studio with his at-home office. During this time, I came up with the idea to create an artistic version for a wooden room divider inspired by the elegant shape of the Kimono.

From this, I created a series of life sized wooden sculptural art pieces which evolved into wall hangings.

During my research into the Kimono I was lead into other traditional Japanese art forms including Sashiko (exaggerated stitching technique) which found me combining Sashiko into the Kimono Sculptures and later, the Shield Sculptures.
