Sashiko Shields
These framed wood Sashiko Shields are the result of fusing my love of geometric and 3D design with the traditional Japanese art form of Sashiko (exaggerated stitching technique used for mending clothing).
Working with my hands to drill the thousands of holes, stitching the hundreds of meters of thread and hand painting the patterns is not only meditative for me but I hope that the same feeling is enjoyed by the viewer, resulting in calming intrigue.
